Under Melody’s leadership, NAPVID has achieved remarkable milestones that have transformed the lives of many PWDs. His commitment to advancing equality and human dignity is evident in the numerous projects and advocacy efforts he has spearheaded. One of his notable achievements includes playing a crucial role in the passage of the 2018 Discrimination Against Persons with Disability Prohibition Act, a landmark legislation that protects the rights of PWDs in Nigeria. This act has been instrumental in addressing discrimination and ensuring equal opportunities for PWDs across the country. He also led effort for the enactment of the 2022 Edo State Persons with Disability Law.

Melody’s expertise in project management, stakeholder engagement, and community mobilization has been pivotal in driving NAPVID’s mission. He directed the Data for Inclusion Project, which involved collecting disaggregated data on voters with disabilities across 280 local governments in Nigeria. This project has significantly enhanced electoral inclusion for PWDs, ensuring that their voices are heard, and their rights are upheld in the democratic process.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to promoting electoral inclusion especially in the design and development in the Braille Ballot Guide currently in use by INEC, Melody received the Access Nigeria Leadership prize in 2019, Awarded by the Inclusive Friends Association and backed by the National Democratic Institute. His dedication to peace and development was further acknowledged in 2020 when he was appointed as a Justice of the Peace by the Edo State Government.

Melody’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B), Barrister at Law (BL), and a Master of Laws (LL.M), from the University of Benin, Nigerian Law School, and Benson Idahosa University, respectively.
Melody’s work extends beyond policy advocacy. Through Project HELP (Health, Education, Livelihood, and Palliative), he has made significant strides in supporting PWDs in Edo State. This project, supported by the Edo State Government, provides a comprehensive safety net for PWDs, addressing their critical needs in health, education, livelihood, and palliative support.

Under his guidance, NAPVID has eased the enrollment of over 1200 PWDs in the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme, provided educational support to over 300 undergraduates, and improved economic opportunities for PWDs through business support packages and digital training.

Melody’s impact is also felt through his efforts to raise awareness on accessibility and inclusion. His leadership in the “Access Nigeria: Disability Votes Matter” campaign and the weekly radio program “Hitches & Voices” has significantly increased public awareness and advocacy for the rights of PWDs.
In the words of a beneficiary of NAPVID’s initiatives, “Melody Omosah’s dedication to the rights of persons with disabilities is unparalleled. His leadership and advocacy have transformed the lives of many PWDs, providing them with opportunities to thrive and succeed.”
